Collection: Bone Cancer
What is Bone Cancer?
Bone cancer refers to the uncontrolled growth of malignant cells in the bones. It can begin in the bones themselves (primary bone cancer) or spread to the bones from other parts of the body (secondary or metastatic bone cancer). While rare, primary bone cancers include types such as osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, and Ewing’s sarcoma.
Symptoms may include deep bone pain (especially at night), swelling or a lump over a bone, unexplained fractures, fatigue, and unintended weight loss. Diagnosis is confirmed through imaging tests such as X-rays and MRIs, along with biopsies.
Treatment typically involves a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Early detection and prompt medical intervention are critical for improving outcomes.
